About Your City Government:
The City of Dunwoody operates under a council-manager form of government. The Dunwoody City Council is comprised of a mayor and six council members elected by the people on a nonpartisan ballot for one and three year terms.
The mayor is elected at large; council members are elected by voters in each of the three separate districts they represent. The terms for council members from District Local 1, District Local 2 and District Local 3 expire in January 2010, while terms for the council members from District 1 At Large, District 2 At Large and District 3 At Large, including the mayor, expire in January 2012.
The mayor and council serve as the legislative and policymaking body of the municipal government. Together they enact city, ordinances, appropriate funds to conduct city business and provide policy direction to the administrative staff.
The city manager works closely with the mayor and council to assist them in formulating policies and programs. Overseeing all city employees, the manager is responsible for the efficient ongoing operation of all city services as set forth by the City Council.

At Large means: they will represent the entire city as a whole, and not an electoral district of the city. They will be elected by every voter in the city and not just a voter group defined by a geographical area. Everyone in the whole city votes on the same pool of candidates and the top vote-getters become the city council member(s) representing the whole city, not just their district.
So, each resident has (2) city council people to vote for and represent them- one thru their specific geographical location and one “at large”.

Wright is an “almost” Atlanta native who grew up in the Fulton County portion of Dunwoody in the Branches neighborhood, graduated from North Springs High School and the University of Georgia with a degree in political science, minor in Criminal Justice.
As a businessman, Ken Wright has been in the healthcare field his entire career. He began as a salesman for a manufacturer of anesthesia and respiratory devices and equipment, moving to the healthcare software side in 1997. More recently, as an entrepreneur, Wright founded his first company, K2 Healthcare Information Technologies in 1998, merged with NetLearning Inc in 2000, and subsequently sold to Thomson Delmar Learning in 2004. Wright is currently founder and CEO of eHealthcareIT and in 2009 was named one of Atlanta’s “Top 40 under 40” by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
As a community volunteer, Wright served on the executive board of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association in 2001 and 2002 before leading as president in 2003, 2004, and 2005.
In 2006, after a very brief rest and retirement from the volunteer executive offices of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association, Wright was asked to become Chairman and President of Citizens for Dunwoody, a 501c3 organization tasked with researching all areas of the incorporation of the community of Dunwoody.
In 2008, after a three year legislative struggle and by all measures herculean barriers, Citizens For Dunwoody was able to secure for the residents of Dunwoody a July 2008 vote on incorporation. Over 81% of the voting citizens elected to incorporate Dunwoody and thus form City of Dunwoody.
Wright is a member of the Dunwoody Rotary club and worships at Dunwoody United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Terri, have been married for 12 years. Ken & Terri have 2 children; one at Austin elementary school and one at the new Dunwoody elementary school.
